Wilton Buttercream Icing

adapted from: Wilton

4 cups (1 pound) powdered sugar
1 cup shortening
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 - 4 tablespoons water

Cream shortening and vanilla until smooth.
Add powdered sugar one cup at a time and water until desired consistency is reached.
Beat well.
